Gracie Soto represents the continuity behind one of Barrio Anita's longest-standing food institutions. Her grandmother Grace Soto opened Anita's Street Market more than forty years ago, and Gracie has maintained the tortilla and burro counter since 2020, mobilizing community support to keep the space operating.
José Contreras is both a working chef and a nationally recognized voice for regional cuisine. As chef at Amelia's Mexican Kitchen and a 2026 James Beard Award semifinalist, he cooked at the James Beard Foundation Platform dinner in August 2026. His current expansion, Carrizal Molino + Cocina, centers on nixtamal and deepens his commitment to traditional grain preparation.
Ken Foy built Dante's Fire into a midtown Grant Road staple through thirteen years of scratch cooking and local sourcing. A two-time Tucson Iron Chef winner in 2022 and 2023, Foy's restaurant closed in July 2026, but the cooking identity that defined it now appears on the Desert Magic floor.
Devon Sanner bridges multiple roles — chef at S + P Creative, co-owner of Zio Peppe, and a founder of the Gastronomic Union of Tucson. An Iron Chef Tucson finalist, Sanner has also taken Tucson's cuisine abroad, cooking in Parma, Italy as part of the city's designation as a City of Gastronomy.
